About Hranice


When you arrive in Hranice, visit the Tourist Information Center, where you will get all the information about Hranice and its surroundings. You will find the information center on the ground floor of the Hranice castle. Visitors will get maps, promotional materials about Hranice and its surroundings. They can also choose from various souvenirs, postcards, they can buy tickets for cultural events in Hranice, they can have materials copied. Furthermore, you can arrange guide services, find out about accommodation and meals in the city.

With a sales area of 48,377 m2, Galerie Šantovka is the largest shopping center in the entire Olomouc Region and is one of the ten largest centers in the Czech Republic. Visitors will find dozens of fashion stores, sporting goods stores, cozy cafes and quality restaurants, a large supermarket, public services, a multiplex cinema with 6 screens and a bowling arena with 18 lanes. All that just a 30-minute drive from Hranice.

Events & Nightlive

 

European Jazz Days

The jazz music festival is held in May every year. The festival hosts a number of top jazz players, singers and bands from the Czech Republic and abroad. The programme of the festival is accompanied with other culture event too. Check the website https://kultura-hranice.cz/ for details.

 

Hranice Cultural Summer

The series of events packed with concerts and performances. In 2015, the Castle Garden was reconstructed and Hranice Cultural Summer was moved to these premises. For performers there is a stage space, for spectators a stepped auditorium and toilets. To buy refreshments visitors can use the terrace of the Castle Club. Christmas Market

Traditional Czech Christmas market is open every December in the Masaryk Square. Besides buying Christmas gifts and decorations you can also enjoy music performances (Christmas carols) or you can taste a traditional Christmas sweets and hot drinks.

Sights & Architecture


Hranice Abyss

The Hranice Abyss Information Center offers its visitors information about the unique Hranice Abyss, which lies in the Hůrka u Hranic National Nature Reserve. With a total measured depth of 473.5 meters, it is the deepest abyss in the Czech Republic and at the same time the deepest flooded abyss in the world. The abys is located about 30-minute walk from the Information Centre.

Hranice Castle

The unique glass roof of the Castle hall combines centuries of history with a modern approach. You can visit the Gallery North Wing of the Castle, the Museum at the Castle, the Castle Café and the Tourist Information Center. Today, the Castle is the seat of the Hranice Municipal Office.

Zbrasovské Aragonite Caves

The caves are situated in the pictureresque valley of the Bečva river near the spa Teplice nad Bečvou. The unique decorations of the caves contain aragonite, raft stalagmites and sinter spheric coating, reminding of doughnuts. The bottom levels of the caves are parmanently filled with carbon dioxide. The caves are the warmest underground areas of the Czech Republic, with permanent temperature of 14°C, which remains stable throughout the year. The system was discovered in 1912 and made accessible to the public in 1926. Website
